Sculptor Gino Miles grew up on a farm on the western slope of Colorado near the Colorado National Monument. Before settlement, Indians hunted buffalo here. The buffalo rolled in the dirt and mud for grooming and insect control, creating still-visible wallows at Sugar Hill.
